Winners All Around

“Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods” – Christopher Hitchens

Thanks to all of you who have been playing my Mystery Photo Game. I hope you’re having fun and that you’ll keep guessing or figuring out my mystery photos through a few more mysterious photos. I thought sure I would trick you all last time, but some of you are just too discerning and you solved the mystery. Others of you flirted with the right answer. For some reason, you kept thinking of Frankie on this mystery picture. Could be because I mentioned trying to use Frankie’s paws. Well, those of you who guessed Frankie’s paw, you were wrong. But those of you who guess the bottom of a dog’s foot, well, you were right. But it wasn’t Frankie’s foot. It was his visiting buddy last week, Marley’s foot. That’s why there was more white hair. Marley is an English Spaniel and a very sweet one. Frankie did not want him to go home. However, I’m not so sure that Marley wasn’t very ready to go home after Frankie wanted to play non-stop with him. Marley is already past puppy stage and like some of us older people he would get tired. So when he settled down for a nap, I snapped a picture of his paw. Here is the rest of the picture. I did post a picture of Marley and Frankie on Wednesday’s post, Mystery Spots and Pet Photo Day, if you’d like to see the rest of the dog.

Laura, Lisa, Amy, Pat and April guessed a dog’s paw. Others guessed Frankie’s mouth, belly, and ears. My favorite guesses this time were Una’s black shag rug guess and Lois’s smoke tree. So now take a guess on the picture up top.

Time for Some Winners

I promised a first Friday winner in my Mystery Photo game and that winner is Patty. I sent you a message, Patty, so check your e-mail message box.

Also it’s time to pick the winner of my newsletter Celebration Giveaway for the release of River to Redemption. First place winner was Melissa S. Second place winner was Christine G. and third place winner was Vivian F. I’ve sent you all e-mails. So as soon as I hear from the winners, the prizes will go out.

I gave away a bunch of door prizes today at my Hometown Book Party. I always have so much fun celebrating a new book with friends and readers here in my hometown. I didn’t have as many as I have had in the past, but they were a friendly group and listened to me talk with smiles while they were eating all those cookies I made yesterday. I got so busy talking books and enjoying myself, I forgot to take pictures. A person can’t be expected to remember everything, now can they? But now it’s back to work on edits and all those chores I’m supposed to be catching up on this summer. Plus, some fun time with the grandkids.

Hope you are having a fun summer. Thanks for reading.

Now let’s see what you think the new mystery picture is. I’m not sure if this one is easy or hard, but I do hope you’ll have fun playing my Mystery Photo Game. A new guess gets you another entry in the drawing and I’ll draw for winner number two next Friday. Then the last Friday of the game, I’ll pick two more winners. Winners get a choice of one of my books. You have to be at least 18 years old to enter. So let’s have some fun. And if you all get this one, you just wait. I’ve got a really hard mystery photo waiting in the wings. 🙂

Linda, the milkweed pods are bursting open in the fields, so you could be right. Of course, that’s not saying you’re right. You could also be wrong.

Karen, you’re so nice to always congratulate the other winners. You keep trying, one of these days your name will rise to the top. Maybe. Mine never seems to when I’m in a drawing. The enlarged part of Marley’s foot was right at the top of the pad. Of course, I intended to be mysterious. You have to admire the ones who figured it out. We’ll see on Wednesday whether anybody has figured this one out. Fruit and veggies seem to be the popular guesses.

Ola, now you’re forgetting the veggies and going with something yummy. A frosted cake with nuts. Sounds delicious. Could be I baked a cake. Could be.

Mary, you are getting us back to healthier eating. Peas with mushrooms. I’ll leave off the mushrooms, but I do like peas. The best ones are those you pick out of your garden, but I haven’t gotten a garden out early enough to have peas for a long time. I’ll take little pearl onions with mine. 🙂

Connie, you’re trying to cover several bases here. Plant, stem, flower. It could be that I enlarged a bit of my hay field bouquet. But then again, it could not be too.

Love the guesses so far, everybody. Such a neat variety. And yes, you’re making me hungry.

Betty, you have us ready to make some waldorf salad. I haven’t made it with pistachio but that might be good. I’ve tried pecans and peanuts.

Margaret, I certainly had enough cookies left over that I could have taken some more pictures, but none of my cookies had sesame seeds. But if we got out into the plant world, we have lots of choices.

Lavon – I like your guess of a lily pad complete with water bugs. Not saying it’s right or wrong, but it’s a fun guess.

Una – plants do come in lots of shapes and sizes.

Paula, that’s a very good guess. Those little pepper seeds can be pesky to clean out of the sink.

Lucy, cucumber is a good guess too. Could even be right or it could be wrong. Wednesday will tell.

Loretta, at least most of you are sticking to the food side of things. Avocado, the very word sounds exotic, doesn’t it?

  3. An up-close shot of the fibers of a kitchen sponge, perhaps? 😉

    Great mystery photo, Ann! 😎
    ✨ Romans 15:5-6✨

  4. Congratulations to all the winners!!! Even after knowing what the photo is I still don’t see it. 😊😊😊
New photo??? I’m guessing watermelon. And that’s probably FAR from what it is. I think that’s what I guessed on the last one. Oh well! 😊

  5. My first thought is something floating in pond water. The little spots look like water bugs. So I’m going to guess a lily pad, or some sort of water vegetation.
