Winners All Around

“Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods” – Christopher Hitchens

Thanks to all of you who have been playing my Mystery Photo Game. I hope you’re having fun and that you’ll keep guessing or figuring out my mystery photos through a few more mysterious photos. I thought sure I would trick you all last time, but some of you are just too discerning and you solved the mystery. Others of you flirted with the right answer. For some reason, you kept thinking of Frankie on this mystery picture. Could be because I mentioned trying to use Frankie’s paws. Well, those of you who guessed Frankie’s paw, you were wrong. But those of you who guess the bottom of a dog’s foot, well, you were right. But it wasn’t Frankie’s foot. It was his visiting buddy last week, Marley’s foot. That’s why there was more white hair. Marley is an English Spaniel and a very sweet one. Frankie did not want him to go home. However, I’m not so sure that Marley wasn’t very ready to go home after Frankie wanted to play non-stop with him. Marley is already past puppy stage and like some of us older people he would get tired. So when he settled down for a nap, I snapped a picture of his paw. Here is the rest of the picture. I did post a picture of Marley and Frankie on Wednesday’s post, Mystery Spots and Pet Photo Day, if you’d like to see the rest of the dog.

Laura, Lisa, Amy, Pat and April guessed a dog’s paw. Others guessed Frankie’s mouth, belly, and ears. My favorite guesses this time were Una’s black shag rug guess and Lois’s smoke tree. So now take a guess on the picture up top.

Time for Some Winners

I promised a first Friday winner in my Mystery Photo game and that winner is Patty. I sent you a message, Patty, so check your e-mail message box.

Also it’s time to pick the winner of my newsletter Celebration Giveaway for the release of River to Redemption. First place winner was Melissa S. Second place winner was Christine G. and third place winner was Vivian F. I’ve sent you all e-mails. So as soon as I hear from the winners, the prizes will go out.

I gave away a bunch of door prizes today at my Hometown Book Party. I always have so much fun celebrating a new book with friends and readers here in my hometown. I didn’t have as many as I have had in the past, but they were a friendly group and listened to me talk with smiles while they were eating all those cookies I made yesterday. I got so busy talking books and enjoying myself, I forgot to take pictures. A person can’t be expected to remember everything, now can they? But now it’s back to work on edits and all those chores I’m supposed to be catching up on this summer. Plus, some fun time with the grandkids.

Hope you are having a fun summer. Thanks for reading.

Now let’s see what you think the new mystery picture is. I’m not sure if this one is easy or hard, but I do hope you’ll have fun playing my Mystery Photo Game. A new guess gets you another entry in the drawing and I’ll draw for winner number two next Friday. Then the last Friday of the game, I’ll pick two more winners. Winners get a choice of one of my books. You have to be at least 18 years old to enter. So let’s have some fun. And if you all get this one, you just wait. I’ve got a really hard mystery photo waiting in the wings. 🙂

Marji, I love your chubby caterpillar guess. I did once do an osage orange in a previous game. We call them hedge apples around here, but until I wrote the blog about the osage orange tree at Fort Harrod here in Kentucky a few weeks ago, I had no idea why they were called hedge apples. Now I do. You can go back a few posts and read about the osage orange tree. https://www.annhgabhart.com/2018/07/01/historic-osage-orange-tree-photo-op/

Mandy, so glad you’re having fun playing my mystery photo game. Interesting guess about the pineapple. And Besty, you saw pineapple too. I guess it could be the edges after you slice off the peeling. Hmm.

April, you are very close to right. It could be the close up of a fruit.

Sue, I tried doing a tree stump once. Everybody guessed it. Everybody. But this time yours is a wild and crazy guess. 🙂

Virginia, celery is a good guess. Wrong, but good.

Amy, at last somebody got it sort of right. Some kind of berry. Check out tonight’s blog, if I get it written, to see the rest of the berry.

Laura, we have a load of pawpaws on the tree this year. So it could have been a pawpaw slice, but it wasn’t.

  2. This is a hard one. I’m guessing it’s some type of berry, but I honestly have no idea. You stumped me!

Linda, I like your guesses. Pickle I can see. Maybe I should take a picture of a pickle. My grandson love those Claussen pickles.

Brenda, cucumbers are sort of raw pickles and cucumbers has been the most popular guess so far. Do you think that means it’s right? We’ll see on Wednesday.

Jeanne, I could have been thinking pineapple slices. My granddaughter just got back from camp and she said she traded several fellow campers out of their pineapple slices one meal. I think she thought it was the best thing she had to eat all week. So she could have inspired me to take a picture of a pineapple slice. Maybe.

Emily, love your guess. That’s using your imagination. Glad you think this one is a good mystery picture. Wouldn’t it be funny if you were the only one to get it right or maybe the one who was the most off base? LOL.

Lisa, you are agreeing with the most popular guess. I love it that you guessed before you read all the other guesses. That’s the most fun way to play the game. But you did see others agreed with you about the cucumber. Not saying you’re right. Could be you’re all wrong. Thanks for playing.

    1. So many of your followers have fantastic imaginations. Not I! I love all their guesses! And, Ann, I love how you take the time to read and comment on each and every guess that is made. I do enjoy reading all your comments! And very wise of you to start grouping your comments which, perhaps, saves you a wee bit of time. You are amazing!!! Have a blessed day! 😊

Karen, they do have some imaginations, that’s for sure. That’s what makes all of you such good readers. Actually I don’t mind answering each comment separately, but when there are several the way they are when I’m doing a giveaway, I worry that those of you who check the notify for follow up comments will get irritated by too many messages pinging in your e-mail boxes. That’s why I group the comment answers. I’m glad you enjoy the comments. I do too!

  4. When I first looked at the mystery picture, I thought of a pineapple which I doubt it it but that’s my guess! 😉

  5. It looks like the inside of a pineapple to me. I don’t know. I’m not very good at this game, but it’s still lots of fun!

  6. Hmmmm….it might be a close up of an Osage orange (aka Monkey Ball)??
Or, perhaps, it’s part of a chubby caterpillar??
