Mystery Spots and Pet Photo Day

There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it’s going to be a butterfly. ~R. Buckminster Fuller

Okay, so my first picture wasn’t quite as mysterious as I had hoped. A lot of you got it right off. Yes, the spots on a butterfly wing. I do appreciate those of you who used a little more imagination and saw pasta or fish pieces or potato cakes (liked that one, Lois) or brownies with white chocolate chips (Yum, Lucy) or walnut kernels or dough. Hmm, are we getting a pattern here? Maybe those of you with those guesses were hungry. LOL. Ola thought beauty with her flower petal guess. I liked Una’s guess of “spots on something.” And you know, she was right!

But most of you looked at the picture and saw butterfly wings and you were right too. I do love taking pictures of butterflies. Actually in a mystery photo game in the past, I had a moth wing. A lot of you guessed that one too. I should have learned from that. But all those right guesses just make me more determined to get way more mysterious on this next picture. Or at least hope I’m getting way more mysterious. 🙂

So up top is mystery photo 2. A guess on a new picture gets you another entry in the drawing for one of my books and if you want, you can even pick my new release River to Redemption. The guess doesn’t have to be right and remember, it’s more fun if you guess before you read all the other guesses. You might be led astray by their wrong guesses. LOL. I’ll draw for the first winner on Friday. Another winner next Friday and then two winners on deadline Friday, July 27th. You do have to be at least 18 years old to enter the drawing, but you can let your kids help you figure out these mysteries!

All American Pet Photo Day

It’s no mystery that I’m a dog lover. My husband says I need to get my kennel license since I’m dog sitting for a friend and that’s after dog sitting for my son’s dogs last week. My dog, Frankie, is in dog heaven. He loves having dog company. Well, people company too, but I won’t let him play fight with the people company. I’ve taken several pictures of Frankie and his new buddy, Marley, but until I spotted it on Twitter this morning, I didn’t know it was All American Pet Photo Day. It’s some kind of special day every day, but Pet Photo Day is one of the fun ones.

Naturally I posted some dog pictures. That made me think about all the many dogs I’ve had through the years. So in honor of pet day, here are a few of them. First there’s Ollie, my very first all mine dog. Then Jody, my cockerspaniel. And of course, sweet Oscar. And finally Frankie and his buddy, Marley. Note I haven’t gotten Frankie to take a selfie with me yet. So that’s my Pet Photo Day.

Thanks for playing my mystery photo game. I’m looking forward to your guesses on the new mystery photo and as always, thanks for reading.

That’s a great guess, Lois. Wrong, but a great guess. I’m getting ready to post the actual picture and a new mystery picture in a few minutes.

Diana, I do love sunflowers, so maybe.

Sherri, you’re not the only one that thinks I might have gotten Frankie to sit still long enough to take a picture of his ear. Maybe I did. Maybe I didn’t. We shall see on Sunday.

Nina, I like that you tried another guess after the first one. Flower inside and then a complete reverse to eyelid and brow. Wonder if either of them are right. I wonder. Well, actually I know and you will too if you come back on Sunday.

Connie, I haven’t figured out why everybody thinks it’s something on Frankie. Couldn’t be because I take dog pictures all the time. 🙂 But you backed up your guess by saying maybe a person too. We’ll see if you are right on Sunday.

Lois, cotton candy. Did you just go to a fair? I always loved eating that spun sugar at fairs. I worked in a concession booth once when I was a kid in 4-H making cotton candy. Let me tell you, I was sweet all over by the time I went home, cotton candy everywhere, even in my hair.

Marji, I do still miss that sweet Oscar. He was the best dog. Love Frankie, but Oscar was something special. So it could be I might use one of his pictures. Could be.

Pat, you’re right there with some of the others thinking it might be Frankie’s paw. He does have dark hair, but I don’t know about that light color on the side. Hmm. Makes one wonder.

Loretta, love how all of you are seeing parts of Frankie. Believe me, he would be very pleased if he knew you were all thinking about him. And he’d love a tummy rub for sure. He’s sleeping under my feet right now and there isn’t even any thunder happening.

April, here we go with another dog paw. Definitely a popular guess, but popular isn’t always right. Not always.

Lavon , a cow’s nose? Maybe. Maybe not. I do sometimes take pictures of cows, noses and all.

Emily, skin and hair. That’s what my husband guessed when I tested the picture on him. Now whether that makes it right or wrong, you’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out.

Ola, Frankie has been popular in the guesses. His tongue, his paw, his ear, and now his belly. I do like to take pictures of Frankie when he sits still long enough, and he does sleep belly up sometimes. So maybe. Maybe not. 🙂

Amy, surely you don’t think I’d try to trick you all. Well, of course I would. That’s what this game is all about. Tricking you, all of you. I didn’t trick everybody last time. Wonder if I did this time. You do have the popular guess with the dog’s paw.

Margaret, you and Emily are sort of on the same page here. Forehead with hair and that white smear? What could that be? Bad makeup? Messy hair? I don’t know, but we’ll see on Sunday.

Una, I remember when shag rugs were all the rage. My daughter wanted a purple shag rug when we built a new house when she was six. She got her purple rug. This one couldn’t be purple, but it could be black shag. Could be. We shall see on Sunday.
