You Can Trick Some of the People Some of the Time

You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time. (Generally attributed to Abraham Linclon with some Quotation Experts doubting he ever said it.)

As Yogi Berra is quoted as saying (true or not) “I haven’t said half the things I said.”

But whoever said what, I obviously did not fool many of you with my first mystery picture. I was afraid of that when I posted it. You all are just so smart.

Of course, I took some consolation in the fact that only a few of you got it exactly right. That was Lisa B., Marji E., Kathy with a maybe in her guess but the right one, and Maria F. That’s because many of you knew it was a dewdrop but you didn’t say where exactly that dewdrop was located. You said leaf, flower, cactus, plant, dog’s hair, pine needle, lemon grass, branch, stem, grass, weed and more. I had to love Jacinda’s dog hair guess.

One of you did get it exactly right. Connie said it was the dewdrop on a dandelion stem from the picture I posted a week or so ago on my Facebook page. Sigh. I knew I should have waited a while to use that as a mystery photo. LOL. It is such a unique photo that I’m glad I used it even if you all did guess it.

Well, most all of you. A scant few of you were nice and guessed wrong as you suggested it might be an insect egg, tree sap, and my personal favorite wrong guess, a radish for a salad. You three gave me the courage to try to find a new mystery photo that might, maybe, trick a few more of you. It’s up top and I have to admit that I hope you all don’t get it right. If you do, I’m definitely off my game as athletes are known to say when they strike out, miss every goal and trip over their own feet in the middle of the field or court.

Remember, that while the game is fun whether there are prizes or not, I do have prizes. Well, books anyway. Three winners will get their choice of one of my books. Everytime you guess on a new mystery photo, you get another entry in the drawing. The deadline to enter a guess on any of the photos is May 31, 2022 at midnight EST. You have to be eighteen to enter, but feel free to consult your kids if you need help. However, it doesn’t appear as if many of you needed any help!

I could be I was just trying to make you over confidant with that first picture as I sucker you in like a card shark at a gambling table. But no gambles here. Just fun. I look forward to your ideas about what Mystery Photo 2 is. One thing it is not and that’s a dandelion puff. Of course, you already knew that.

Okay, get ready, get set, and go. Tell me what you think this mystery photo is.

I’m waiting to see if you all get it right too. I’ll post the rest of the picture on Sunday night.

When the Meadow Blooms Release news

Fun to see the reviews for When the Meadow Blooms posted on Interviews & Reviews. I loved seeing all those stars lit up.

Carolyn had some especially nice things to say about the story. “With a skillfully crafted plot, totally engaging characters, vividly sketched settings, inspiring spiritual truths, and a bit of sweet romance, this book brought tears and cheers and earned a spot on my Best Reads of the Year list.”

Thanks to all of you who read my story and enjoyed getting to know my characters in Meadowland. Every review posted is much appreciated.

Karen, that’s a great guess. Might even be right. Or not. We’ll see tomorrow night when I show the rest of the photo. Before then I’ll have to hunt up another mystery to see if I can puzzle some of you.

  1. This is a good one! I’ve been swamped with getting ready for my first craft fair, and the grandkids end of year events, so I haven’t had much time for anything else. My first thought was a flower petal, but since the last picture was flower related, I’m guessing you chose something completely different. But maybe you used a flower again, thinking we’d all think that and guess differently?
My mind is fabric oriented this week, so I’m guessing it’s a pretty red blouse or sweater.
I’m looking forward to next week, when I’ll have free time to read again. I’ve started When the Meadow Blooms, but it was too good and I wasn’t getting anything else done! I had to put it aside until there’s time to dive into it completely. My plans are to spend Sunday afternoon lost in Meadowland!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Good busy things, Lavon. You have to be there for those grandkids while they are little and when they’re older too. But those young ages are especially grandma time.

I like your guess and the reasoning behind it. Not saying you’re right, but you did reason it out. And then a seamstress like you would think fabric.

I don’t know that I’ve ever had anybody say they put down my book because it was too good, but I’m okay with that. LOL. Hope you’ll enjoy going to Meadowland when you have the time to jump into my story.

Another tongue guess. You’re the third one to see that, Connie. Could be that you three are seeing things right or could be, you aren’t. I do hope you’re having fun trying to figure out these puzzle pictures.
