Trick or Treat Riddles

Do you love riddles? Sometimes when I use them on my Friday Smiles posts on my Facebook page, my readers call them groaners. That’s what makes them fun. Silly but still fun. Especially if you are young at heart. Last week when I posted some of those riddle groaners, a reader confessed that she used to love telling her family jokes like those when she was a kid and her sister-in-law laughed and laughed. She didn’t say so, but I imagined that made her love that sister-in-law. Sometimes we are too serious. Too wrapped up in our own busyness to take time to laugh at the little funnies in our lives. And laughter is good. I read once, some time ago, that patients undergoing difficult health treatments were told to watch comedies to help speed up their recovery time.

So now it’s your turn to laugh or groan as I share a few Trick or Treat riddles. The answers will be at the bottom of the post. Ready, set, groan. 🙂

Q1. How do you spell candy with just two letters?

Q2. A zombie, a mummy, and a ghost bought a house. It has all the usual rooms except one. Which room doesn’t it have?

Q3. What kind of pet does Dracula have?

Q4. What do you get when you cross a black cat with a lemon?

Q5. Why don’t angry witches ride their brooms?

Q6. What do you get if you cross a snowman with a witch?

Q7. The more you take, the more of me there are. What am I?

Q8. What’s the ratio of a pumpkin’s circumference to its diameter?

A merry heart does good, like medicine. Proverbs 17:22a (NKJ)

I’ve used that verse in some of my stories and then in Orchard of Hope, I have Wes remembering the second part of the verse when he was fighting depression after his leg injury. But a broken spirit dries the bones. Proverbs 17:22b (NKJ) With the help of Jocie and the Lord, his spirit mended in the story. May you always have the merry heart to make your life better.

How many did you guess?

And now a few answers, just in case you didn’t get them all.

A1. C and Y

A2. A living room

A3. A bloodhound

A4. A sourpuss

A5. They are afraid they’ll fly off the handle.

A6. A cold spell

A7. Footsteps

A8. Pumpkin Pi

Love the smiles, laughter and even the groans. Thanks for reading.

Glad you all had fun with the riddles. Lucretia, I never get the answer on those riddles either. My daughter has been sending them to me and I go, “Uh, I don’t know. ”

Way to go, getting a few of them, Suzanne. I thought the footsteps might be the hardest one. But easy or hard, they are still fun.

Connie and Diana, glad you enjoyed the fun and had a chuckle.

  2. Awe that was too cute and fun! I’ve never heard any of those before! Thanks for the chuckle Ann! Happy Halloween! 🎃👻🎃
