Keep Dreaming

I was up until the wee hours of morning trying to get rid of all the unnecessary words in my work in progress so I could send it off to my editor today. I hit the send button an hour ago. Well, I did sleep in between giving up on making the manuscript perfect and hitting that send button. It’s flying off now to the next step on the way to becoming a book you and others might read next year. But all that didn’t leave time for me to come up with many new words here on One Writer’s Journal. So, I went to the archives back in May 2008 for these words of encouragement for all of us.

First, here’s a couple of quotes to help you keep on keeping on even if today you’re discouraged. I needed those while writing this new book when the next scene sometimes seemed illusive. We all get discouraged now and then. Some of us sometimes wonder if we should keep trying to follow our dreams. If success is out there anywhere. In the past, I’ve had plenty of those wondering times. So here’s some encouragement. Don’t give up. Keep dreaming. Keep working toward those dreams.

“Genius, that power which dazzles mortal eyes, is oft but perseverance in disguise.” ..Henry Willard Austin (1858-1912)

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination are omnipotent.” …Calvin Coolidge

So may the Lord bless you as you persevere and persist this week and the next week and the week after that and, well, you get the idea. Nobody ever promised following your dreams would be easy. But I am blessed this morning with the dream of yet another book I will get to share with you is on its way. It will be a while before it’s in front of your eyes. About a year. But meanwhile, I have The Pursuit of Elena Bradford new out there for readers. I hope you will give it a read if you haven’t already. And if you have, thank you so much for reading my words. Now go out and enjoy the sunshine and daisies or the rain and the promise of more flowers to come.

“You are never too old to set a new goal or to dream a new dream.” ~C.S. Lewis

So, maybe I can start dreaming up a new story and set a new goal for yet one more book.

Have you had to be persistent to accomplish your goals, big ones or small ones, through times of doubt or discouragement?

  1. Not really through doubt and discouragement, but definitely through grief!! There are parts of 2021 that I don’t remember well, as Mom passed in December, 2020, and grief fog settled in big time!
