Cover Reveal for When the Meadow Blooms

Here’s the early two line info about the book that is being posted on some internet book sites.

Widow Rose Meadows eagerly accepts her brother-in-law’s offer for her and her two daughters to live on his farm after her treatments in a sanatorium finds them needing a home. But is this scarred and reclusive man ready for all the changes these women will bring to his life?

The book won’t be published until next May, but it will be up for pre-sale before that. So far the cover isn’t online. Well, I guess now it is since you’re seeing it right here on my blog post and that will be on my Facebook page soon.

It’s always fun to hear what readers and friends think about a book cover. I think most of you will like this cover and I hope eventually you’ll like the story. The story is going through edits at the publishers now. Most books take at least a year or longer to get from when I type “the end” to when you can pick up the book and read to the end. The books go through at least two or three edits on they’re way to a bookshelf and then into a reader’s hands. We all want the story to be the best it can be and to be easy to read with awkward phrasing, misplaced characters, wrong dates or whatever, typos, incorrect word usage and other things weeded out.

All mistakes aren’t caught. I’ve had a couple of doozies that I’ve missed and readers didn’t. Sometimes you can read and edit a book a dozen or even more times and still miss something.

Even the book cover might go through several edits and changes. Occasionally the first efforts for the cover are thrown out and new covers are made. This cover did go through some back and forth discussions. I love the daisies and other flowers. Hope you will too.

So what do you think? Is this a title and cover that might make you want to read the story?

  2. Oh golly Ann, it’s fabulous🎉 The wildflowers are right very Monet looking, what an incredible picture. The way the poppies and other wildflowers in the background are subdued. The woman is standing in the beautiful daisies has some thoughts. Now if my daisies looked like this😉 we have another conversation😂😅 the Carolinas were too hot to bloom anything except 1 scraggly daisy plant.

You’re right, Kathy. They do have a Monet painting look. I really like the daisies around her. Great meadow flowers. Sorry your daisies didn’t like the heat down your way. They were very happy this year in Kentucky. In fact, you can still spot a bloom here and there since the frost has been slow to come this year. But next week the temperature is going to chilly several nights in a row. That will do in the flowers.

It is a beautiful cover, Lisa. I love that you think you’d choose the book even if you hadn’t read any others by me. If that happens with other readers, then maybe they’ll go back and check out some of my other beautiful book covers, like Angel Sister or River to Redemption.

What is she thinking? Dreaming? I agree, Donna Jean that the cover makes you think about that. In truth, each book is a story mystery waiting to be solved word by word. I did try to make my characters come to life in this one, the same as every book I write.

Thank you so much, Shirley. That you are anxious to read the story makes me smile. It still has some polishing edits to go before it gets that cover wrapped around it and makes it’s way out to readers.

  6. Hi Ann,

I love the title, the lovely lady, and the daisies. The blurred flowers are hard to look at. I hope that changes. I apologize if my comment is inappropriate. I have read and loved all of your books and know that I will love this one too. I can’t wait! Have a wonderful day and thanks for sharing a little of your life with us.

No comment is inappropriate, Mary. I asked what you thought. The book covers are generally final when they say I can share it with my readers. So perhaps the blurred flowers won’t be too distracting for you. I loved the daisies around her too.

I do so appreciate you reading my books and I’m so glad you’ve enjoyed my stories. I’ll look forward to hearing what you think when you get a chance to read When the Meadow Blooms.

Thank you, Emily. I love that you are eager to read my upcoming story next year. It takes a while from writing that first line to getting to the point where a reader can open up the book and read the first line to start following my story road. But the cover is lovely. Glad you think so too.

  8. The cover is lovely–the flowers in the meadow and the pretty woman, who apparently is going to “bloom” as well!
