Creeks, Puddles, Splashes and More

“Life’s beautiful when you learn to see the good in everything instead of seeing the flaws.” ~Jr. Ronaldo

Thank you all for playing my mystery photo game in July. I hope you had as much fun as I did. I’m already seeing mystery photos of the future. I knew last Wednesday’s mystery photo would be an easier one than that car headlight and that turtle shell. The turtle shell won as being the one that no one guessed. This one won as the picture that the most figured out.

Who knows!? I might have figured it out myself if I’d been on the guessing side of the picture. Then again, I might have been like Marji who said she was going to make me happy by having no clue and then she guessed dog hair. I liked that guess and I liked Laura’s guess too of a dog or some animal. One of the reasons I posted this mystery photo was because I thought it looked like a dog (Frankie maybe) panting.

The other reason I wanted to use it was because I thought it was pretty and that after the good run I’d had with the other pictures being stumpers that maybe it was time to let some of you figure it out. A bunch of you did – Nancy T., Bobbie, Briana, April, Lisa, Lavon (who is missing the beach but she didn’t guess ocean), Linda McF., and Lucy who didn’t say creek but river. Close enough.

Others of you knew it was water but didn’t keep that water in the creek bed. Donna Jean and Ola said puddles. Hope said something dropped in water, Sandra and Paula both saw fountains. Amy, who was shocked she guessed the headlight but gave the credit to being a mechanic’s daughter, sees a splash so she’s still with the water. Tammy thought I spilled some water on my countertop. And Angela is ready for some iced tea and time on the porch dipping into a new book.

Lee had the interesting guess coal and I can see why she might have thought that. Emily said Jello or jelly. Again the Jello guess seems more than reasonable. I loved Karen R’s melted chocolate guess, and Connie Lee thought maybe it was spilled glue. One time when I was painting the kitchen cabinet over my refrigerator with a clear sealer I knocked the paint can off and paint went everywhere. If I’d had a camera then I might have gotten a picture like this. For sure, it was not a fun mess to clean up.

Karen said scrunched up aluminum foil. That could have been. Kathy is seeing an oyster shell, and Patricia was just seeing something slimy and creepy. What she’s imagining might be that fungus Connie Rae imagined. I’ve seen that fungus you’re talking about. Very strange looking for sure. And of course, Connie does say she’s not all that sure about her guess and this might be another of those thingamajigs. (Can you believe the spellchecker didn’t get upset over the way I wrote that word? Amazing.)

So we end the game with a bunch of you smiling because you were right with the guess of a creek or very close to right with the guess of water. Others of you weren’t that close but I’m always glad when a few of you can’t quite figure it out. It could be I could have given you a close-up of the rock and you might not have figured that out. 🙂 It is a very interesting looking rock.

And the Winners Are

I picked my two winners by random drawing. I had 146 entries. Of course some of you got multiple entries by sharing your best guess on all my mystery photos. Others of you popped in to guess on a few or maybe only one. I know some of you said how much fun you had guessing and reading the other guesses too. So thank you all for that. I gave each of your names a number and then went to random number generator to let it pop up a number for me. The two winners are Nancy T who was right this time with creek and Amy who was right with that headlight. Being right didn’t make them win. Their names just must have floated to the top of my giveaway drawing hat.

I sent a private e-mail message to Amy and Nancy T., and they didn’t waste any time getting back to me. That’s great. Amy picked Along a Storied Trail, and Nancy picked Words Spoken True. I’m hoping to do the audio narration on that one soon. Right now I’m still working toward the end of Love Comes Home. I’m hoping there aren’t any more scenes to make me teary-eyed so I can read it without sniffing.

Thanks for reading and playing my mystery photo game. We’ll do something else fun soon.

You all are so nice to congratulate the winners when you weren’t one of them. But Nancy and Amy were glad to be on the winning side this time.

I’m also very glad you enjoyed playing the game. The mystery photo game is my most popular game, but I’m trying to think up something new that might be fun. Maybe some fill in the blank scenes. Hmm. Not sure how that would work. I’ll do more thinking about that after I finish the narration of Love Comes Home. Maybe Sunday I’ll share some of my favorite Aunt Hattie scenes or prayers.

  2. Congratulations to the winners. I didn’t have a chance to play every time during this game. But I had fun reading the guesses later.
    Have a great week!
