I’m throwing down a challenge again to all of you who like to play my mystery photo game. I’ve been taking pictures and trying to think mysteriously about this or that common thing and I am finally ready to see if I can trick you on some pictures. Probably not. You all are great at figuring out my pictures – most of the time. But some of my pictures in past mystery photo games have tricked almost all of you. That’s my goal. I don’t think this one will be the one to do that, but a person has to start somewhere.
I just looked through my file of former mystery photos and a couple of them, I had no idea which photo they matched up with. The mystery game has tricked me in those cases! But I do remember one of my more successful closeup pictures that did fool you all. Well, one family member claimed to know what it was, but she didn’t put it in writing on my blog post to prove it. 🙂
Here is the mystery photo that tricked all who guessed. I was like all of them. I never knew cedar looked like that until I took the picture and zoomed in on it. I grew up with cedar trees all around. My dad tried to keep them off his farm by chopping them down with his axe. They grew back in a hurry to claim the victory. There are plenty of cedars still around. Certain kinds make good fence posts. They make good shelter for birds in stormy weather. They have a Christmas scent when you bring them in the house in December. And they make perfect mystery photos. Would you have been able to solve that mystery photo?
We’ve had fun with the game a few times. It does strain my brain to come up with photos with enough mystery to have you thinking. Not sure I was successful this time, but we will see. If you all get this one, then I’m pretty sure the next one will be harder. I’m going to attempt to come up with six mystery photos, including the one up top. At the end of the game, I’ll pick two winners for a choice of one of my books. The deadline to enter will be July 30, 2021 and I’ll contact the winners by email after I pick them in a random drawing. As always you must be at least 18 years old to enter. Also you will get an additional entry by posting a guess on each new mystery photo I post. Remember, the game is more fun if you try to figure out what it is and guess before you read the comments and guesses of the others who play. But whether you win or not, it is still fun to exercise our imaginations and do some mystery photo guessing.
The first photo to guess is up top. I just know it’s going to be a colossal failure and all of you will know what it is. Well, maybe one of you will guess wrong just to encourage me to go find some more mysteries.

maybe a waffle with syrup on it
Even though it kind of looks like meat a little bit, I’m going to guess that it is a pot/pan with strawberries or raspberries cooking for jelly or a sauce.
I think it is a design on a bowl, plate or vase.

I think it is steak on a plate with steak sauce on top.
I think it’s a piece of meat waiting to be grilled/cooked or just having been grilled/cooked.
The bottom picture looks like juniper with the blue berries.
It looks like it has small berries on it, so I’m guessing a pancake with a berry topping.
Looks like the edge of a grilled hamburger to me.
I may be weird but it looks like a grilled hot dog. You’ll probably fool all of us, Ann!
I must be hungry today because my mind immediately zoomed to breakfast for this photo. I’m guessing bacon.
Love these games! Thank you so much Ann for mentally stimulating my old brain. Plus I really enjoy seeing everyone’s guesses. I can see Lee’s greasy greasy hamburger too, as well as some of the other guesses, but I am sticking with what first popped into my head.
My guess is a blueberry pancake swimming in maple syrup.
I think it may be a slice of tomato in a bowl. Not sure what it is, but it sure is fun trying to guess! 🙂

I think it is a tomato slice.
My guess is raspberries or another fruit boiling for canning. The side looks like a big pot. I may be way off though and this may be as tricky as your cedar photo.
