Can You Believe It’s 2026?

Welcome to Flight 2026
We are prepared to take off into the New Year. Please make sure your attitude and blessings are secured and locked in an upright position. All self-destructive devices should be turned off at this time. All negativity, hurt, and discouragement should be put away. Should we lose altitude under pressure during the flight, reach up and pull down a prayer. Prayers will automatically be activated by faith. Once your faith is activated, you can assist other passengers. There will be no baggage allowed on this flight. The Captain (God) has cleared us for takeoff.

So, here we are in 2026. Maybe it’s because I’m getting older, but these years seem to be flying past very fast. By the time you take down the Christmas tree it’s time to start shopping for Christmas again. Well, maybe not quite that fast, but the years do seem to have the zoomies.

It could be because I have so many years to look back on. I remember when I turned thirteen. I was so happy to finally be a teenager. I was eager to add a year to my age then. I’m still eager to add a year to my age. Just not as eager to count up those years.

Yet, each New Year is a blessing. I get the anticipation of 365 new days to use and enjoy. I don’t have the absolute guarantee of all those days, but I have the hope of them like a trail laid out in front of me. I have the promise of a new book releasing for readers in May. I have the pleasure of writing another story. I have the gift of reading to enjoy many other stories written by other writers. I have the joy of sharing words and thoughts here with you.

A New Year can be a motivation to make changes in our life, but as Dr. James Wilcox says in the quote below, we don’t need a New Year’s Day to do that. We can choose to change for the better any day.

♦ A lot of people, they get all caught up in the New Year’s resolution thing and I think it gives them an easy way later to say, “Oh, that was just a New Year’s resolution” and not take it seriously. People who really want to make changes can make them any day of the year, whether it be the Jewish New Year, the Chinese New Year, or any day that suits them. You’ve got every day of your life to make changes. ~Dr. James Wilcox

The picture is the first sunrise picture I’ve taken this year. The sky was so filled with a rosy glow that I felt as if I were walking into pink air as I moved across the field. A good way to think about our new year. We just keep walking into the rosy glow of each day. They won’t all be good. Some will be tinged with gray troubles or worries. But I’m wishing you, and me too, more days with that rosy glow of hope and love in 2026.

P.S. I sent out a newsletter a couple of days ago. If you think you’re signed up for my e-news and didn’t see it in your email box, check your Spam folder. Sadly, they sometimes land there. But if you can’t find it and want to read it, here’s a link. There’s a giveaway chance in the newsletter. But I’m going to come up with a new giveaway here for you faithful blog post readers. Maybe a photo caption game or a finish the sentence game or … Well, I don’t know, but I’ll think of something in between thinking up what happens next in my work in progress.

  1. I’ll be happy if I can keep from gaining weight in 2026!! I’ve lost about 30 pounds, still want to lose 5 to 10 more, but I’ll really be happy if I don’t put any weight on!! I still ride my bike, and the few times FL cools off I’ll be walking, too. God has blessed me so much with new clients for my insurance business, too.

Well, good for you almost hitting your goal for weight loss. I’m wanting to lose that last 5 or 10 pounds myself, but seems those last ones want to stick on or you lose them and then gain them back. Sounds as if you’ll be ready to handle those new insurance clients.
