The Winners are No Mystery

You all know that I love books. I love reading them and I love writing them. Well, most of the time I love writing them. Sometimes when the doldrums hit in the middle of my writing, then I can get a little discouraged in that writing part. But I do especially like getting all the way from typing Chapter 1 to writing The End. That takes me months and months. And I have made that journey yet again for my third Hidden Springs mystery. So I’m ready to celebrate by cleaning my office or something. Maybe I should do something more fun that that!

Reading Friends are the Best

One of the best parts of writing these last few years are all the reading friends I’ve made through my writing here on my blog and on Facebook. I do so appreciate all of you who read my this and that posts here and my books too. And this month, I’ve had a lot of fun with you as we once more played my mystery photo game. The first two pictures I posted were so easy that I wasn’t sure I’d ever stump some of you, but then maybe I was just being like a pool hustler. Letting you win a few before I lowered the boom. LOL. That’s not really it. I just lucked up on some better pictures including the one I posted Wednesday night.

Imaginative Guesses

Only one person, Shay, tiptoed close to the correct answer when she said moth man. It is a sphinx moth as you can see in the picture. All right, I know some of you are saying that you’ve never seen a sphinx moth so how were you supposed to guess that? You’re right, but if you will remember, I warned you a couple of weeks ago that it was going to be NO MORE MR. NICE GUY. Grover and I were getting serious.

There were some really interesting guesses on this. Some said feathers and I can see that. A few said it was an African violet leaf and Edward said it looked like it was an over-watered or under-watered dying violet. He must know me because I do sometimes have trouble keeping my violets alive. Of course, he at first said roadkill, but I guarantee you I’m not going to be taking a picture of road kill. Rhonda got in on that roadkill idea with the idea of a poor donkey after it was hit by a car. I liked her idea that it was the angel Balaam’s donkey saw, but I wasn’t there to take that picture. ๐Ÿ™‚

A split open milkweed pod was a popular guess. Definitely could imagine that being true. A couple of you thought it might be a mushroom. Nyla guessed a lamb’s ear plant. I could see that. Somebody mentioned a mop string. Another thought a ribbon tied to a stem and another said a rag. There was even mention of a whale. Judi had the most unusual guess of something inside an ear, but then Rhonda agreed it might be that donkey’s ear. This mystery photo was definitely the one that got you all thinking the most and seeing interesting things. So right or wrong, and you were all wrong except maybe Shay, you at least exercised your brain with all the imagined things.

Thanks for Playing

I do appreciate all of you joining in the fun of guessing on my mystery photos. I had fun – after I found some pictures that stumped you. Then I was smiling. I hope you had fun too. We’ll do it again in May when my new book, Murder Comes by Mail releases. Got to do mystery photos for a new book. Actually the book is already available for pre-purchase on-line if you want to make sure you’re one of the first people to read the next Hidden Springs mystery.

And Now for the Winners

I picked three winners who will get a choice of one of my autographed books and also a grab bag book. And the winners were Nancy, Kathleen, and Lisa B. I’ve contacted all three by e-mail. Thanks to the rest of you and maybe next time you’ll be the winner here on my blog or on a newsletter contest. One of those newsletters will be going out soon with a prize chance to celebrate Valentine’s Day. I’ll think of something neat to give away and of course there will be books.

Thanks for reading!

Glad you enjoyed the mystery photo game, Robbie. We’ll do it again soon – if I can find some mysterious photos. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’d forgotten about you helping name Jocie’s cat or at least suggesting name for it. I haven’t talked about Cat for a while. Even after Jocie got all those good names, she still calls that cat Cat. I hope you’ll enjoy your books. I’ll try to get them sent Wednesday, Kathleen. And now to think up something new to try here on my blog. ๐Ÿ™‚

So glad you thought the mystery photo games was fun, Edward, Rhonda and Judi. And of course, Nancy, it’s always fun to win something whether it’s big prizes or books. Books can be a big prize because you’ll have hours of entertainment and maybe learn some things too. Those are the best kinds of books. Thank you all for playing my mystery photo game. Trying to come up with stumpers has me looking at things with a different eye. Most of the photos are taken with my phone camera so sometimes pulling them up close makes them too fuzzy to use. In the current bunch of mystery photos, the donkey’s nose was a little blurry, but not too bad. So, I’ll have to be out taking pictures of more bugs and things. Maybe spiders. That seemed one some of you kept expecting me to post. ๐Ÿ™‚
