The Gift of Today

Ann H GabhartAnn's Posts, One Writer's Journal

Today the sun came up and it misted rain all day. Both gifts. Today I fired up my computer and changed this word and that to try to make my new book better. Today three of my grandkids came to visit to give me the gift only a grandchild can give a grandparent. Sorry, those of you who aren’t grandparents yet – you won’t understand until you are. Being a parent is one of the most special blessings any person can have. Ah, but being a grandparent. That’s blessing on top of blessing.

I also got some good news about The Outsider. Crossings Christian Book Club has featured the book in their catalogue. Also it is being featured at Revell’s and Baker’s websites. You can check that out at www.revellbooks.com or www.BakerPublishingGroup.com if you’re interested.

So since today seemed so much a gift, I thought I’d hunt up that quote I’ve seen about the gift of today. Here it is.

Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. And today? Today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present. ~Babatunde Olatunji

Hope your “present” is a welcome gift with beautiful wrappings and wonderful happenings that you rejoice in opening moment by moment.

I also came across this quote about what a treasure each normal day is to us.

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return. ~Mary Jean Iron

Talk to you this weekend.
